Escape from Playtime is announced as a 1-4 player cooperative survival horror game where Smiling Critters collect materials and try to survive changing factory environments. PROJECT: PLAYTIME is an asymmetric multiplayer game with six survivors trying to build a toy while a seventh player controls a monster.

Are the games connected?

Both are set in the Poppy Playtime universe and use Playtime Co. locations. That shared setting does not make the new title a rename, patch or mode inside PROJECT: PLAYTIME. They have separate Steam app pages and different advertised game structures.

The developer FAQ says the Escape from Playtime team is separate from the team making the main Poppy Playtime chapter games. It does not make the same explicit comparison with the PROJECT: PLAYTIME team, so this site does not infer staffing details.
